Real Beauty, Real Treasure & Real Love

“Can I see my baby?” the happy new mother asked. When the bundle was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped. The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window. The baby had been born without ears. Time proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect. It was only his appearance that was marred. When he rushed home from school one day and flung himself into his mother’s arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks. He blurted out the tragedy. “A boy, a big boy … called me a freak.”

He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music. “But you might mingle with other young people,” his mother reproved him, but felt a kindness in her heart. The boy’s father had a session with the family physician. Could nothing be done? “I believe I could graft on a pair of outer ears, if they could be procured,” the doctor decided.

Where upon the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice for a young man. Two years went by. Then, “You are going to the hospital, Son. Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need. But it’s a secret,” said the father. The operation was a brilliant success, and a new person emerged. His talents blossomed into genius, and school and college became a series of triumphs. Later he married and entered the diplomatic service. “But I must know!” He urged his father, “Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him.”

“I do not believe you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know… not yet.” The years kept their profound secret, but the day did come.

One of the darkest days that a son must endure. He stood with his father over his mother’s casket. Slowly, tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish-brown hair to reveal that the mother had no outer ears. “Mother said she was glad she never let her hair be cut,” he whispered gently, “and nobody ever thought Mother less beautiful, did they?”

LESSON LEARNT
Real beauty lies not in the physical appearance, but in the heart. Real treasure lies not in what that can be seen, but what that cannot be seen. Real love lies not in what is done and known, but in what that is done but not known.

Women's Work-Life Balance
Walkathon - Women's day special @ NTT Data, Bangalore
We need you!!

We need you to listen. When we tell you about a problem, we don’t want you to jump to a solution for us. We just want to say it out loud to solve it ourselves knowing that you will support us.

We need you to talk. To raise the issue of gender. Don’t worry about saying the wrong thing. Saying the wrong thing is better than saying nothing at all. It’s the only way to start the conversation.

We need you to value our differences. Realise that we bring a different perspective and encourage us to bring our personalities to work, to not feel like we have to put on a ‘male suit.’

We need you to argue. We need you to push back against our ideas, to challenge us to do more than we think we can.

We need you to fight. We need to stand up for us, to be our allies, to be our comrades in arms. This isn't a fight between men and women; it’s a fight for equality, for what is right.  The rise of women does not equate to the demise of men.

We need you to believe in us. So we can work together as equal partners, shaping the future for the next generation.

Men, We need you.!! (voice of a woman)

You can get her love in the form of Sweet Sister, Lovely Friend, Beloved, Darling Wife, in the form of adorable Mother  & Grandmother. So, Respect HER. She gave you birth, she gives you love, she teaches you to smile to reach that extra mile, it’s the woman behind everyone..!

I call her Strong, Smart, Sensual, Caring, Giving, Surviving, Tolerant and powerful.
I call her WOMAN!

Just wanted to thank everyone from bottom of my heart for all things you do..!

Feel special, unique, on top of the world, it’s your day!!
Happy Women’s Day!

The Wooden Bowl
A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and a four-year old grandson. The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.
The family ate together nightly at the dinner table. But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating rather difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass often milk spilled on the tablecloth.
The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. “We must do something about grandfather,” said the son. I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor. So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner at the dinner table. Since grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. Sometimes when the family glanced in grandfather’s direction, he had a tear in his eye as he ate alone.
Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence.
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, “What are you making?” Just as sweetly, the boy responded, “Oh, I am making the bowl for you and mama to eat.” The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.
The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took grandfather’s hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.
Children are remarkably perceptive. Their eyes ever observe, their ears ever listen, and their minds ever process the messages they absorb. If they see us patiently provide a happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that attitude for the rest of their lives. The wise parent realizes that every day that building blocks are being laid for the child’s future.Let us all be wise builders and role models.
Take care of yourself, … and those you love, today, and everyday!, especially your parents, as they are the most precious gifts …

A Thank You Note for you all - Sj Vasan ツ

Allow me to make a humble “thank you” note
For all the people who remembered me and wrote.
For those who left messages everywhere and bothered
And those wonderful friends who chatted and lingered.
You who took time out from your otherwise busy day
You who stopped awhile, left me a message and did say,
My dear friend, Sj, I wish you a very “Happy Birthday”!

You who would have otherwise said,
“Nah, I don’t need to write it, such a greeting is overrated.
After all, a birthday to one is but a usual day to some.
And like I told you, look at him, he’s probably having enough fun!”

You, who would have otherwise decided that it’s better not to greet
Than be branded either “eagerly excited” or “terribly late”,
You who would have logged in and out without a trouble or a care.
Still, you did what you did, left a greeting, au contraire.

It’s friends like you who make birthdays happier
It is you who makes me pause in this hurried, confounded world
To appreciate life, count my blessings and remember what I’ve always been told – That friends come and go, in myriad colors, shapes and sizes.
They add meaning to your existence, oh the pleasure of one who socializes!

They may promise to stay forever, swear on their lives and say: “Leave you? Oh never!” & The next day they’d be packing like crazy, running after lost dreams, gripping a dagger..! But the footprint they leave on that old hostile path you once traversed together. Stay with you long after the journey’s over, most times enduring even the harshest of weather.

These friends I speak of may be actual or virtual. They may be new or old. I might not see them now in the flesh, never did so, and probably never would. But the thought of their very existence is enough to put a smile in a face like mine,That though most times appear smug and happy, let it not beguile. That I’m not without my own challenges or share of this world’s troubles, every once in a while.

Thank you for your greetings, dear friends who I value greatly.
Be it known to you — now and for all eternity –
That every message you send me, moving swiftly and securely,

Aided by the wonders of technology, from 2G , 3G and even  3.5G & 4G mobile to Web 2.0 that’s ever so lively,
From the farthest continents, across the seas of whatever country or territory –
Is treasured, never forgotten, forever appreciated and cherished as priceless
By someone whose natal day has been made special by your warmest greetings and wonderful wishes!

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Special thanks to those who remembered me on my birthday..!

Hold My Hand

This life don’t last forever (hold my hand)
So tell me what we’re waitin’ for (hold my hand)
Better off being together (hold my hand)
Than being miserable alone (hold my hand)
 Cause I’ve been there before
And you’ve been there before
But together we can be alright
Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold
We can just hold each other till we see the sunlight
So if you just hold my hand
Baby I promise that I’ll do all I can
Things will get better if you just hold my hand
Nothing can come in between us if you just hold,
hold my, hold my, hold my hand
The nights are getting darker (hold my hand)
And there’s no peace inside (hold my hand)
So why make our lives harder (hold my hand)
By fighting love, tonight
Cause I’ve been there before
And you’ve been there before
But together we can be alright.
Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold
We can just hold each other till we see the sunlight
So if you just hold my hand

Baby I promise that I’ll do all I can
Things will get better if you just hold my hand
Nothing can come in between us
If you just hold my hand

Right Here Waiting For You

Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain

If I see you next to never
How can we say forever

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for u
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted, all the times
That I though would last somehow
I hear the laughter,
I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now

Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I wonder how we can survive
This romance
But in the end if I'm with you
I'll take the chance

Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

Walking Away

I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away

sometimes some people get me wrong
when it's something I've said or done
sometimes you feel there is no fun
that's why you turn and run
but now I truly realise
some people don't wanna compromise
well I saw them with my own eyes spreading those lies
and well I don't wanna live my life too many sleepless nights
not mentioning the fights i'm sorry to say lady

(I'm walking away)
Well I'm so tired baby
things you say you're driving me away
whispers in the powder room baby
don't listen to the games they play
girl I thought you'd realise
I'm not like them other guys
coz I saw them with my own eyes
you should've been more wise
and well I don't wanna live my life too many sleepless nights
not mentioning the fights I'm sorry to say lady

I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away
